1st and 6th in the Final 300 miles race of the Mercedes Classic versus 365 birds with the birds that I bred for Geert Kolvenbag, IF-11-WC-2503 and 11-2507. 2503 ended up being 2nd Champion Bird of the whole series 150, 200, 200, 300 miles.

11/4/2011

'La Roche aux faucons' - 2nd National Ace Pigeon Small Middle Distance KBDB '11 bred by Casaert - Senechal descends from the Olympiad 01-Belg-003 pigeon of Gust Jansen, that I have been very successful with.

11/3/2011

At the World of Wings Triple Crown the birds were 1, 2, 15/165 birds in a fast 200 miles race. In the 275 miles race they were 20, 23, 25/165 and having 3 birds in the top 12 competing for Average Speed.

The birds did not perform well in the American Grand National. Out of 10 birds in the race, only 2 finished the race series.

In the Sierra Ranch Classic the birds did great in the 225 miles race, where 7/15 birds were in the top 15%, so 45% of the birds in the top 15%.

In the Shasta Classic 11-24235 that was 1st Average Speed after 3 races, came home on the second day in the last race, bummer!

5/22/2011 - Most birds have been sent to the One Loft Races.

Several new Vercammen birds have been acquired, including Son Sherryl, Daughter Barco, Brother Barco, Daughter Iron Lady...

September 4, 2007

The final race of the Spirit of Colorado was not a regular race.  36 from the 275 birds released returned on the day.  There was big overcast at the release point and the K index was 3-3.5, which is high.

AU-07-Dallas-2624 came in 18th, which was sufficient for her to win 1st High Point Bird.  Her Sire is from the MAGIC line, 04-Belg-626.  Her dam is 02-Belg-254, a granddaughter of Mattens & Sissi.  Do not forget that Mattens was only good at Ad Schaerlaeckens loft when he was mated to Sissi and NONE of his babies with other hens were any good racers or breeders!

I would have liked for more birds to have returned on the day, but what can you do, this is pigeon racing…

The next races are in October: Gold Cup Classic, Mercedes Classic, and Texas Gusher. Stay tuned…..

August 19, 2007

Spirit of Colorado Race, 206 miles. There were 22 birds on the drop, 2-5 miles head winds. This is another great result.  The FINAL race is in two weeks, September 2, 300 miles!

The first race of the year with 2007 banded birds starts great.  Spirit of Colorado 150 miles, 295 birds in the race.  This is my best result in a one loft futurity race ever!!!

I got 2, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 /295. That means 47% of the birds in top 5% were bred by me and 7/11, 64% of my birds were in the top 5%!  Again the Formula is the “MAGIC” line crossed with Ad Schaerlaecken’s birds, it simply works!

August 7, 2007

In the 110 miles training toss at Spirit of Colorado race the birds performed great. They were 3, 6, 7, 12, 13, 21, 28 / 306 birds, 7/ 12 in the top, 58% of the birds in the top 9%.

2624, 2610, 2625, 2605, 2628, 2621, 2613 respectively…

February 28, 2007

I was very satisfied with the performance of the birds in the One Loft Races in 2006 and the first month of 2007.  I got unlucky 2 times where I should have won 1 Champion Bird & 1st Average Speed had the birds returned home in the final race.  One bird came home after 6 weeks and the other has not made it back yet…

February 27, 2007

Late breds from 2007 can be ordered now so that you can have birds from the “Proven Pairs”.  There will be only one round available for sale from each Pair. Contact for pricing and availability.

Also some late breds from 2006 are still available and it is not too late to add 1-2 special birds for the breeding season.

2nd Point Bird with AU-06-TEXAS-3540.

If Average Speed was used to calculate the Best Bird, this bird would have won 1st Place .  The point system is not the correct system to use to determine the Best Bird because it does not take time into consideration.  If a bird comes 5 hours later it will get 1 point less than the previous bird.  3540 did the 648 miles 11 minutes and 55 seconds faster that the bird that won 1st Point Bird!!!  Which is the better bird, I will let you decide…
